Boat Dock Cleaning on Pickwick Lake
Lake docks take a beating — algae and mildew from the waterline, fish gunk on the surface, bird droppings on the rails, and dirt tracked from the boat. We clean wood, composite, and Trex docks with techniques that won't damage the wood or harm the lake.

The Pickwick Lake Dock Reality
Pickwick Lake water is alive — algae, sediment, fish, and the regular rise and fall of TVA water levels combine to leave a constant film on docks. Most lake homeowners just live with it. But a properly cleaned dock looks dramatically better — and a dock that's washed once or twice a year doesn't develop the deep gray oxidation that ruins the wood and forces premature replacement.
What We Clean on a Lake Dock
- Wood dock decking — pressure-treated or cedar
- Composite docks (Trex, TimberTech) — using composite-safe pressure and chemistry
- Dock pilings (above-water)
- Hand rails and seating
- Boat lift frame and canopy — rinsed, scrubbed, top of canopy soft-washed
- Swim ladders and dive platforms
- Storage boxes, fish-cleaning stations
- The boat house interior (where access allows)
Lake-Safe Methods
We're careful with what goes into the lake. We avoid sodium-hypochlorite overspray near the waterline (we use it on rails and tops, away from the water itself). For waterline scum and algae, we use mechanical pressure with biodegradable surfactants that break down quickly. We rinse the dock at the end so cleaner residue doesn't sit on surfaces. We're not the operator who dumps a gallon of bleach in the lake to save 20 minutes.
How Often Should the Dock Be Cleaned?
Most Pickwick Lake docks do best on a twice-a-year schedule:
- Spring (April/May): Open-the-cabin clean. Strips winter buildup and gets the dock ready for the boating season.
- Late summer (August/September): Mid-season refresh. Hits the algae bloom that comes from hot water and heavy use.
Owners who only use the cabin occasionally may go to an annual spring cleaning. Heavy-use families often add a Memorial Day or July prep wash before family arrives.
Combined Dock + Boat Visit
Most of our lake-home customers bundle dock cleaning with pontoon or boat hull cleaning in the same visit. It saves a separate trip charge and we can knock both out in a half-day.
How We Price Dock Cleaning
By dock size and configuration (single slip, double slip, T-dock, U-dock, with or without boat house), plus what's attached (lift, swim platform, etc.). Annual-contract customers get a discount over one-off visits. Written quote in advance. Here's how our quotes work.
